User Guide
This section provides guidance for end-users who want to connect to a CompassVPN server. If you’re looking for server setup instructions, please see the Installation section.
Getting Started
To connect to a CompassVPN server, you’ll need:
- A connection link from your CompassVPN server (whoever runs the server gets these with
./agent.sh configs) - A free app on your device
Setup is the same everywhere: install the app, paste in your link, and connect. The guides below recommend an app for each platform and walk you through it.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues
If you’re having trouble connecting to CompassVPN, try these common solutions:
- Switch between connection types: If one configuration doesn’t work, try another one from your server
- Check your network restrictions: Some networks may block VPN traffic, so try using a CDN-proxied connection
- Verify your credentials: Ensure your configuration link is correct and hasn’t expired
- Update your client: Older client versions may have compatibility issues with the server
Security Recommendations
To maintain a secure connection:
- Keep your client updated: Regularly update your VPN client application
- Don’t share your configuration: Your VPN configuration is personal and should not be shared
- Use secure DNS: Most clients allow setting custom DNS servers for additional privacy
